{"id":13,"date":"2014-09-29T05:34:04","date_gmt":"2014-09-29T05:34:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cynthiasiegel.net\/?page_id=13"},"modified":"2014-11-22T05:39:05","modified_gmt":"2014-11-22T00:09:05","slug":"it-takes-a-village","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/cynthiasiegel.net\/?page_id=13","title":{"rendered":"It Takes a Village"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>It takes a village to create a Fulbright Scholar!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There are many people to whom I wish to give hearty thanks for their part in helping me realize my desire to become a Fulbright Scholar in India.\u00a0\u00a0 I hereby declare my gratitude to the following awesome people:<\/p>\n<p>John Graulty, Priscilla Hollingsworth, and Shannon Wright \u2013 for taking the time to write letters of recommendation for me, and for their thoughtful encouragement.<\/p>\n<p>Catherine Johnston Matto &#8211; for patiently answering my numerous questions about the Fulbright application process &#8212; and the many other people working at CIES and USIEF who have helped me with\u00a0all of the post-selection paperwork and arrangements to travel to India. \u00a0I give a\u00a0particularly giant thank you to Shevanti Narayan and Sumanta Basu of USIEF for helping me navigate the maze of my first weeks in West Bengal.<\/p>\n<p>Andy Bender, Roslyn Bullas, Kathy Einhorn, Cid Pearlman, Joh Rathbun, Gail Ritchie, and Holly Wallack &#8211; for their helpful commentary during the development of my project proposal.<\/p>\n<p>Suzanne Benton, Catherine Bebout, Gretchen Cochran, Bonita Cohn, Jim Danisch, Sharbani Das Gupta, Stephen Huyler, Joel Isaacson, Vineet Kacker, Wendy King, Melinda Michaels, Mackenzie Smith, and Alan Teller \u2013 for the enriching discussions and communications regarding their experiences in India, and\/or with the Fulbright organization.<\/p>\n<p>Liz Crain and Whitney Smith &#8211; for the expert blogging advice and especially the camaraderie!<\/p>\n<p>Tara Siegel &#8211; for making\u00a0my website so much more user friendly. \u00a0You saved me!<\/p>\n<p>The many friends and family members who offered support, encouragement and delight in my good news &#8211; y\u2019all know who you are.<\/p>\n<p>I am a coffee shop\/caf\u00e9 writer.\u00a0 When I\u2019m home I\u2019m either in the studio, or knee-deep in any number of projects within my fledgling garden and blank-slate house.\u00a0 One way that I\u2019m sure to get some writing done is to go somewhere where the only tasks available to me\u00a0 (other than writing) are to drink tea and eat a croissant!
